Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. However, for an Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these qualities were normal. Maureen came to this loving sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is her mother. She was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake in "The Shamrock Rovers," a renowned Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons The rest of the family rounded out the wonderful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and played rough, athletic sports when she was a young. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. In the end, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her country of birth. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14 She then continued to pursue her dream of opera as well as classical theater and singing.
